Need an iPhone 4 screen protector?

I needed a screen protector for my iPhone 4, as many other people do. The big question though - which should I buy?

Is it best to aim for the cheapest and be prepared to have to change it every few weeks? Or is it really worth paying a little more to get an iPhone 4 screen protector that would last longer and ultimately offer more protection.

The biggest question I suppose is, would I need a screen protector at all?!

The iPhone 4 and its screen.

So, the iPhone 4 handset was released with a bunch of bold claims. It would be the best phone, have great reception, and because of the toughened glass used for the screen (and backing) it would be scratch-proof.

True, it is a great phone, I love mine, but we all know about the associated reception problems and of course, there's no phone with glass that can truly resist ALL scratches.

By the time I had my new handset, I already had a bunch of friends who had been careless and had the scars (on their iPhone) to prove it. Some had even smashed theirs, but a screen protector isn't going to help prevent that much.

Fact was, a screen protector was going to be needed unless I wanted to taint the image on that beautiful retina screen.

How much to spend on a screen protector

So, I started to shop around. And there was a lot of choice. The screen protectors on offer seemed to fall into two categories:

1) Cheaper screens coming in packs of 5-10

2) Expensive protectors costing at least £10 for just one protector

It seemed pretty obvious that those coming in multi-packs did so for a reason, that reason being that they are more prone to peel off and get marked and basically become useless.

After shopping around, I found a happy medium on Amazon, the PhoneDevil Magic Screen Protector. Reviews looked great, but what exactly was so 'magic' about the PhoneDevil?

Time to buy the PhoneDevil Magic Screen Protector!

So, I took a chance and bought the PhoneDevil for my iPhone4. Every review that I found spoke positively about it. In fact, in most cases it got full marks from people that had bought it.

It did cost slightly more than I had wanted to spend, but it came with two protectors, meaning that if anything happened to the first, I still had a back-up.

When it arrived, I was very impressed, the PhoneDevil Magic Screen Protector that I bought was the crystal clear (invisible edition) and it is just that. When applied, it is hardly noticeable. In fact, most of my friends that have used my iPhone didn't even realise that it had a screen protector on it, it's that good!

Plus, 6 months down the line, it looks as good as it did the first day that I applied it, no marks, no bubbles and it always looks shiny and clean thanks to the special PhoneDevil cleaning cloth, which came along with the product.

How to apply the PhoneDevil Magic Screen Protector

One of the most impressive things about the PhoneDevil Magic Screen Protector was the great instruction on how best to attach it to your iPhone 4.

When your package arrives, it comes with the two protectors (both sealed and packaged with care), the cleaning cloth (mentioned before) clear step by step instructions on how to apply it and also a branded card to help you to apply the PhoneDevil Screen Protector without bubbles.

To top it all off, there was even an instructional video that explains how best to apply the protector. It sounds silly to need a video for something like this, but it really does help you to apply it perfectly. Check the video out below:

Conclusion

So there you have it. The PhoneDevil Magic Screen Protector Crystal clear (invisible) edition really is as good as the reviews say.

It's competitively priced, comes with two protectors, comes with a bunch of extras, has super clear instructions on how to apply it, and it looks amazingly good. Best of all, it keeps your iPhone 4 looking as good as the day that you bought it. What's the point in spending good money on a great bit of cutting edge technology if you aren't going to protect it, right?

I'm happy with mine, and my experience has led all of my iPhone owning buddies to follow suit. Join the club! :)
